CHERP Investigator Receives Young Investigator Award for Contributions to Health Services Research, 06/10/2008 Rachel Werner MD, PhD received the John D. Thompson Prize for Young Investigators from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) at the organization’s 2008 annual meeting in early June. The Thompson Prize recognizes faculty from member programs whose work contributes to knowledge in health services based on their research publications in the field. The Prize is in honor of John D. Thompson, a professor of health administration education who set exemplary standards for teaching, commitment to learning, collegial relationships, and health services research. |

CHERP Has A Great Showing at 2008 SGIM Conference, 04/15/2008 CHERP Investigators presented 24 abstracts at the Society for General Internal Medicine Conference (SGIM) Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA, including two plenary presentations, nine oral presentations and a workshop. In addition, Virginia Chang, MD, PhD received the 2008 SGIM Outstanding Junior Investigator award during a ceremony on Saturday, April 12. |

VA HSR&D Top Research Honor Goes to CHERP Co-Director, 02/14/2008 Joel Kupersmith, MD, VA Chief Research and Development Officer, presented David A. Asch, MD, MBA with the VHA's Under Secretary's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Services Research during the VA HSR&D Conference in Baltimore, MD. The Under Secretary's Award is the highest honor for VA health services researchers. |

CHERP Awards Pilot Funding To Four Investigators In 2008, 01/10/2008 This year CHERP funded four pilot projects proposed by VISN 4 investigators. Projects run the gamut from development and testing of preliminary data collection instruments for wheelchair prescription and military sexual trauma research to evaluation of a telephone intervention for CPR and assessment of a chronic disease self management program. |
